Joachim Alfheim is a freelance drummer who has been working proffesionally in both Norway and Australia for the past 20 years. He is mostly self-taught after picking up the sticks at age 16. He also holds a Bachelor Degree in Music (Contemporary / Jazz) from Queensland Conservatarium of Music. In addition to playing jazz during his studies, he also played in various rock, alt-country, funk, pop, blues and singersongwriter bands / projects. He has worked and been on tour with multi award-winning performing artists such as Kate Miller-Heidke and Catherine Britt. He currently divides his time between remote recording and teaching drum students at his own studio, in addition to playing live gigs. Joachim is known for his dynamic playing style always aiming to play for the song and ‘ in the pocket’. Joachim has collaborated with Popkanon on their upcoming releases providing authentic vibes and dynamic fills to the songs.
